Hello world.
I really didn't know what to put up here in the last few months. With my greatest inspiration to even have a blog being practically over there wasn't much to say on my part. Yeah Kamen Rider W is cool, Goseiger is amazing. But a world without new episodes of Power Rangers, thats just depressing isn't it?

I've been poppin by Rangerboard and my boys at Henshin Justice for a few months now, just to see how the masses were taking the MMPR redux. So this morning when I spotted this news I hit the floor.

In whats to be remembered as a day when Wolverine considered putting Mickey ears on his mask, Disney has bought Marvel Entertainment. Disney owns Marvel's 5,000+ characters.

Frankly this is outstanding. But I can't say if it's good or not. I know we can expect a Lilo & Hulk venture sometime in the future with something like this, but what happens to the heroes overall in both companies. Yeah I'm wondering about a Power Pack vs Power Ranger team up during a time of ecconomical crisis, but in times like these who isn't thinking about something like that?

Bandai Shuts Down Power Rangers Department...We're Strong...I hope

Bandai is shutting down the Power Ranger departments of their UK and US companies. This means that Bandai will not be pushing the PR toy line, another nail in the proverbial coffin?
For the last year the Power Ranger franchise has been going through so many ups and downs that it could have made Alpha 5's head spin. It has been a great and terrible experience as a fan to witness all of this and as things seemingly get worse I look forward to the future with high hopes.Lets explain whats happening first so that everyone can be on the same page.
First, Disney has filmed it's last episode of Power Rangers as of RPMs last episode. This is not to say that the show is entirely over though, more or that later.

The show has become too expensive for Disney to produce(because they have only so many billions of dollars to spend on talented singers) and so trimming the fat only seemed to be the logical choice, "Destroy the Power Rangers!" as Disney CEO Lord Zedd said.
....Oh wait, I meant Bob Iger. I'm sorry, it's just to see a powerful group of people so bent on destroying the Power Rangers this season, it just seemed appropriate.

I frankly find Disney to be just acting out, trying to put on a front to cover up any possible losses they might have gained when the dropped Narnia, which is going to sting when its making millions in 2010 that isn't theirs.
Now about the business of show not entirely being over. Disney is expected to transfer the production of the show over to a smaller production company that will handle any future Ranger business under it's own license. But Disney will still retain rights to the Rangers, this new company will be able to craft the show into something we have never seen before. Power Rangers RPM is the last of PR as we know it.

Now with Bandai it's more depressing because the PR toy line as been so rock solid for almost 20 years. It's been said FOREVER that the toys have been the life blood of the show. But will you look at it now? Disney DOES NOT promote Power Ranger RPM, the first time this has really happened on this scale. and what do you know? The toy sales plummet. There are toys just stagnant across the country waiting to be sold but guess what kids? Nobody upstairs in the big offices are bothering to promote it. So in response Bandai is shutting down their Ranger production departments and giving those responsibilities to "very small freelance team" Fundodo said over at our buddies HenshinJustice.com
Now what does all this mean? Why is all this happening?

It's simple, the Power Rangers are morphing into something diffrent.

What we know as "Power Rangers" is being dramatically restructured. And according the posts on Rangercrew .com from Commander Crayfish and MR-Aftershock, Disney wants to reboot Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Starting with pulling a Dragonball Kai with the original episodes, re-airing the first seasons and apparently remastering them for broadcast.
I watch this final traditional Power Ranger season with hot anticipation, it's exciting to see where all of this will lead. But in all of this, once a Ranger, always a Ranger. Even if the show and toys are gone. We the fans will still be here. We will tell our kids about the show, watch it on YouTube before Disney takes them all off. But frankly put, with or without our "Powers" the show as done it's job of empowering us to have big imagination, to become writers, directors and producers. This might get worse before it gets better, but you know what?

Jeremy Sweet sang something that goes with my feelings of the current atmosphere, I think any long time fans know which song I'm thinking of.

Walter Jones Falsely Arrested?

Alright readers check out some of the recent happenings lately in the real live Rangerverse.

Walter Emanuel Jones was arrested saturday night for a DUI. Some might think he was just a washed up actor drowing his sorrows somewhere deep in Alabama for no apparent reason.

Truth be told Walter "Zack" Jones was attending an anime convention, PesaCon, earlier that day and was out looking for directions.

Now we get to Sunday morning, Lauren Cullen the con's chairwoman posted something on her facebook yesterday that everyone on the internet should stop and read before they pass judgement on the original, and most beloved by many, black ranger.

"The Walter Jones SituationShareToday at 3:52pmOk since it's post con, and
since someone at the Huntsville Police Department was out to make a quick buck,
we can post this.Sunday morning around 4 am, after leaving a gas station (where
he'd stop to ask for directions), Walter was pulled over. The reason was written
as "failure to dim headlights". I'm sure we all know with the current "taking
back our highways" thing that they seem to be pulling people over for anything
nowadays. Walter had not had any alcohol except for one beer late in the
afternoon on saturday.
The cop demanded for Walter to get out of his car, tried to
pin a DUI on him. He forced a very competent and alert (obviously not drunk)
Walter to perform the various field sobriety tests. For those that don't know,
those tests consist of testing your balance, awareness, and even a breathalyzer
(which checks how much alcohol is in your system). Walter passed all of those
tests with flying colors, and yet he was still handcuffed. He was not explained
anything outside of that he was being arrested for DUI.
Needless to say it was bogus. I will not state my personal opinion on this
cop's motive for the arrest.

However I will say that it is completely wrong, and the arresting
officer is being looked into for this incident.Walter was held at jail longer
than he was supposed to. An innocent man was kept in an overcrowded jail which
SHOULD be filled with Huntsville's ACTUAL criminals who are still walking our
streets this very second.We are all saddened that Walter had to go through this,
however he did the bail and got out. Then he was recommended to a wonderful
lawyer who will be proving the actuality of this incident.Walter is an innocent
man, a responsible adult, and a good friend.

I hope you will all continue to respect him and I hope that you will
not allow a shady cop to ruin your memories of a fun weekend.Now to address the
issue of why we said Walter had "food poisoning" at Closing Ceremonies. The
staff was prepared to tell the truth about the terrible injustice brought upon
one of our beloved guests. However when I saw people filing in the closing
ceremonies, i saw lots of very young kids. Whether you think I was right or
wrong for this, I do not care; but I felt it was better to not state to small
children such an incident. For young kids it is really hard to understand this
kind of situation (especially when we're all brought up thinking cops only get
bad guys and protect innocent people).

The situation was too much to explain and we would have rather kept young
children from thinking their hero was a "bad guy". I hope you will all respect
PersaCon's decision to do so.Everything is getting worked out for Walter,
however, the internet is a powerful tool and it seems this story has spread like
wildfire. What I would like to ask all of you is please repost this story/share
the truth with anyone who may doubt Walter. He's a good friend and was a great
guest at PersaCon. We are continuing to support him in this troubling situation
and we hope you will too.

And with episode 18 finished, we must bid farewell to Eddie Guzelian, Executive Producer and dare I say a Friend Of The Fans. While he could have chosen to play it safe even with Disney’s apparent free range to do whatever he wanted, he didn’t. And there was an outstanding piece of television between “The Road To Corinth and Belly Of The Beast” that brought a love for this Power Ranger show that this Ninja has not felt since the middle of PRIS.

Oh man how I loved the setup of the military, the rangers the villains. The way everything seemed to compliment each other was just so much fun to watch. Now comes Mr.Lynn, I await to see if the style will change, but the quality I don’t expect to falter.
Take care Eddie, you were a gift none of the fans of the show should ever forget! I hope to see you at Power Morphicon 2 next year.

Katara Is White...Now What?

Alright, so more images are coming in from M. Night Shyamalan Avater movie project
"The Last Airbender" the latest poster is just a knock out for me being a huge fan of the Amerime(get it?)
as it showcases great shots from the four nations.

Sad to say though, awesome posters like these showing a brave new world are being squashed by fans driven to boycott the project because, wait for it...

The cast has white people in it! Oh my gosh!
Well to be fair what they really hate is that you have whites playing characters that are supposedly Asian. Even though I never seen someone of an pure Inuit background with blue eyes controlling water before, people are still becoming very uptight about this subject. Elsewhere on the net you can find protests about the subjuct, with the headings "Katara is not white!" Oh me oh my, Hollywood put someone in the lead that not ethnic...the world must be over already.

Ladies and gentlemen lets be clear on a few things. When you have a movie based on a show that has people in Chinese military armor acting out Japanese war stratagies and a bald caucasian boy who falls in love with a blue eyed Inuit girl whose father looks like Clint Eastwood and they both fly on top of a giant white bovine that has three legs and a beaver's tail....you are going to run into a few changes.
But some people don't understand the way hollywood works. You have to go through hell and high water in order to keep the person's race in tact, especially if artistic licensing has already taken place within the show itself.

I hated the fact that Goku was cast as a white male. But lets be honest. the whole cast was in trouble and most of them were Asian. Believe it or not most Anime characters don't look Asian at all. Why take this post from a one Alexander Kao posting at AnswerBad.com on a similar subject.

"Anime characters look caucasion, and I don't think it's worth denying it and accusing americans of having a skewed vision. This is the reason why:

Commodore Perry 's escapade into Japan - this was the first time that the Japanese were truly exposed to the occident, and the time period thereafater, the Japanese adopted a "westernization" policy in all aspects of their society. Suddenly, everything that was "western" was associated with modernity, and this time period after Commodore Perry and before WWII is responsible for much of Japan's modernization. This is historical fact, go look it up, there are tons of books written about this period of Japan's history.

Thus, when the first Japanese comic books came out in newspapers and magazines, "Astroy Boy" and other early Manga that followed looked rather white. The logical progression was that the animations which were based on the manga looked white too, as to be consistent.

As a film buff I cannot ignore this much longer. So here goes my two cents on the matter.

Before I saw this I didn't know there were literally THAT many racial variations in the peoples of the four nations. Those pictures kind of blow the whole protest thing out of the water, especially if the show's creators are already working this project.

As a black man I completely understand typecasting and such but the actors who get cast in the roles just better be the best man or woman for the job. Look at Oscar nom Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin in Daredevil. Then look at Oscar winner Halle Berry in Catwoman. In both cases they changed the race of a character, but only one came out actually emulating the original source material correctly.

You, and I mean the ones most vocal about this protest business, have to get a few things straight.

-The casties are people, sirs and ma`ams. They deserve the upmost respect as individuals. If your efforts are to attract the studios you will no doubt attract that casties too. They'll read posts on this blog and relating thread in the fan forums and other media where they are not being judged on their acting ability, but by their race.

Thats right, I'm saying what you think I'm saying. This whole process has the pontential to become as racist and mean spirited as the people you're claiming the producers to be.

I can understand how you want something to be accurate to the source material, I watched Masters Of The Universe dozens of times and I THINK I get it. But watch it, please for the sake that some of these cast members are young kids not even 18 out and about for the first time in their lives.

Let me ask the protesters something. What did you think of Denzel Washington playing Julius Caesar?
I believe you guys are free to protest the things you want to protest in, but keep in mind if you are spewing stuff because the person is white who came out on top then I think you have to evaluate if the person can act then leave the rest to the makeup artist, writers and directors.

Up to this point, besides debated casting choices, the movie is breathtakingly accurate in the placing, relationships, concepts and the protagonist qualities. The casting is done and all I'm seeing is "White people=bad" over in too many threads and this Ninja doesn't like it.

Johnny Depp As Lord Zedd?

There is a sense of completion coming from Power Rangers RPM. Something like what we got at the end of Scrubs last season, but of course that show is actually coming back next season, but PR likely won't get a new season yet. What I DO think PR is about to get is a major motion picture deal. While Johnny Depp being Lord Zedd is pure hopeful thinking coming from this Ninja, the very idea still something I think we shouldn't toss out as if it could never happen.

I was in a parking lot late one night and I guy had an MMPR communicator ringtone on his phone. You see the Sentai/Ranger/Kamen Rider cosplayers much more offten at the cons. Everything is pointing to the fact that there is a major adult fanbase in PR who would not only support a movie, but bring their families along with them. And who could you think of who could play a better Lord Zedd than Johnny Depp? Just look at him and his roles. He'd fit the role like a glove. Give me Michelle Yeoh or Ziyi Zhang in the role as Rita and you have a match made in the Shadow World.

Keep in mind this is all speculation, but speculation coming from someone who thinks the time is right to make a major Power Ranger blockbuster.

Sentai 2010? Not So Fast

Oh my how the rumors are flying that this guy might be the blue Ranger for the next incarnation of the long running Super Sentai series. A thought that had this Ninja chuckling. This guy, however cool with a nifty visor and gauntlet, is not like anything produced by Bandai's in house designers PLEX. You see Tomica's heroes were "inspired" (read stole) by some of the new Kamen Rider series, such as Blade, that emphasized heavy chestplates and shoulder pads. Tomica's folks took this concept and ran with it.

What you're looking at could be an upgrade for Rescue Fire(but I doubt it with there being a lack of any hikeshi( Edo firemen) elements in there, unless those are sirens on his shoulders of course. And theres talk of it being Ryukendo's early concept art, but I just see that working with the presumed Dragon theme left gauntlet.

But I think this is actually next year's Tomica hero, which would rock since if they get past Rescue Fire Tomica will surpass the number of Sazer series produced. Good for them if thats the case.

Micheal Jackson "The King Of Pop"

Me, my family and everyone that you know is mourning the loss of the infamous Micheal Jackson. Whoa, it's hard to put those words up on the screen. Excuse me I need a moment to process this. Micheal Jackson, the king of pop, the man who was brave enough to be African American and still perform music in a genre that many thought was strictly and forever to be segregated, has died. Yes he had issues later in his life, personal issues that we as only observers will never truly know or understand. But you cannot take away that he changed music. He changed the way music was presented to the media. Without Mr.Jackson there would never be such a thing as a music video. I would probably be looking into some far more safe than film making and video editing.

Gosh, I sure remember the 1980s! I remember he was on the cover of every magazine, and even though I was just a silly kid I saw that everyone I knew, knew his name white or black. This was someone who found his way to influence so many people and it's just a shame he's gone so soon.

Prayers go out to his family and I hope he found peace with himself and God before he passed.

Uma Thurman would make an excellent Yellow Ranger- and other reasons why we need a Power Ranger movie reboot now

I am sure many of you have already debated the debates and challenged challenges regarding whether or not there should be an all new big budgeted blockbuster blowout thats 100% about the mighty morphin Power Rangers. And I'm sure most of the those talks have been hit or miss, but usually they end with one side saying there never in a thousand suns will be another Power Ranger movie. Well I just like to say that I don't agree with such a negative concept.

Say you liked Stretch Armstrong, and you said to youself "Hey, I'm the only guy who use to like playing with this thing as a kid, why don't they make a movie out of this?" Okay wait, that's just Brian Grazer talking. But you get the picture, a handful of people liked Mr.Armstrong and it seems that Hasbro producing it it hopes to boost their company sales and get new fans of the toy to buy into the marketing campaign.

The money brought in from MMPR alone is staggering compared to Stretched Armstrong. Yet he's getting the movie.

Well this Ninja is frankly tired of the not getting green lighted issue with Power Rangers. Rangerboard seems to host a monthly debate on why a Power Ranger film could work, how would you put it together and why it can't happen. I've always been on the side that a properly made PR movie that can survive the three part process of script=shoot=editing could potentially bring in major revenue.

My ideas for a Power Ranger film is the make it simple and sweet like Singer's X-Men, but drawn in the big audience with the familarity of the original series. I'm talking straight up reboot people. It's been over 10 years since the last film bowed at the box office in 97, it's been more than enough time to remake the image that audiences tastes in the movie houses back in the last decade. Would you say that the Dark Knight was anything like Batman & Robin? Of course not, because you have a new cast and crew who are dedicated to making this a big screen film that does the characters justice.

Turbo didn't do everything it could to be good, and it showed. But if there is a new film coming out it should be straight Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Just like Batman's modern movies don't have a Robin to muck things up there should be no new series that people have never heard of coming out with a movie(except Time Force or RPM) otherwise you take focus away from what people really want to see, and thats the original hero or heroes and heronines in this case in the full glory just as they were always meant to be.

People want to see Jason, Trini, Billy, Kimberly and Zack. And they should see them in the best ways possible. Uma Thurman's yellow jumpsuit in the first Kill Bill movie is an EXCELLENT take on what a modern Power Ranger movie suit should be based on. It's slick and light like the suits we're used to, but it's also covered in technical designs and edges that make it look sharp.

If you had a movie where you had five to six casties in a spread for TV Guide ot Entertainment Weekly dressed like the photoshop of Uma in the upper left corner, then you'd have alot of people interested in seeing how this would turn out.

Ask youselves this question, "is the market looking for former toy heavyweights to 'Transform' into major motion picture franchises?" You bet your bottom dollar they are. If they are willing to license Stretch Armstrong they are willing to green light the top selling action figure for over a decade. The only question is why. With such a potential blockbuster on their hands and being

virturally the only toy centered show that is still running, Disney might have been waiting for the show to end in order to make some kind of movie effort. But thats just hypothetically speaking on my part.

I'd promote the feature with a fun teaser

Open with a black screen and silence.

The famous and familar three beep communicator noise rings out

Each newly styled Ranger suit(look at the Uma Thurman photoshop above)

comes on screen with the new actors crying the respective names of their power weapons(each being used on screen on attacking grunts) out with the help of ADR and fancy flashing.

Show off classy colored text on black backgrounds with rockin' theme performed by Fall Out Boy

The whole thing would remind people of the Power Blaster combination and harken back to the crisp synergetic action of the original series promos on Fox Kids.

In a new movie Rita, taking a note from the Decepticons in the Transformers movie series,

should be accidentally released by two Astronauts then do away with them exactly the way Ursa and Zod handled the Astronauts in Superman II.

Her whole purpose throughout should be to free her husband Zedd. Say they were King and Queen of an evil empire or something. Zordon has placed the Command Center near a city called Angel Grove where he burried Zedd under ash and rock thousands of years ago.

The Rangers, who should be talented no names, are recruited by a reluctant Alpha 5 and not

already buddies, but from opposing social classes. I enjoyed Dino Thunder with the way they had a Jock and a Nerd having the put away their diffrences and save the world. And becoming empathetic to one anothers problems in the process.

Tommy is also chosen, but for the bad guys because Rita has her own coin.

Any Mighty Morphin Power Rangers production must include Tommy Oliver in this green jeans or you'll lose half of you audience. Everyone loved MMPR at one point, but Green Ranger was loved a bit more.

As with the Allspark Cube in Transformers, the infamous Morphin Grid needs to be

firmly established. It's the basis for all Power Ranger powers and if there are futher movies the writers can always fall back on it.

The Rangers need to be seen as the only force on earth that deal with these alien monsters. Bullets go right though Putties. Monsters tear up tanks.

Have ILM pull off the zords.

Rangers Power weapons are always seen on their backs or in holsters.

Somehow they should fail to stop Zedd from awakening-Epic fight against Zedd with Tommy "dying" to save friends would be epic.

If Power Rangers is really done with the TV market then new movies hitting the cinemas should not be too far behind.

Kamen Rider Decade Vs Samurai Sentai Shinkenger

In an act that should bring no short supply of awe and surprise, Kamen Rider and Sentai are finally having a team up. That last sentence sound like I just announced two big Hollywood stars announced they were having a baby. Well this baby looks beautiful. Shinkenger has been an awesome addition to the Sentai series and I look forward to picking up to Power Ranger toys even if there isn't a series to accompany it over here in the states. Gaijin Inside will give you even more pictures of this upcoming event and even reveal some new shots of Kamen Rider W.

This coupled with PMC 2's announcement, RPM and this great Toku season is really giving this year a reason to be listed as one of the best years to get into the Henshin loving fandom.

After RPM, Give Me My DVD Box Sets!

After PR is over, for the time being, Disney needs to do what they'be done with their other completed series and give us some pretty looking DVDs to watch.
Pick the top rated seasons, selected with the help of fans and the ratings they garnished. That means send out season one of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first until you have all three seasons of it crisp and on DVD. After that release the most recent top rated seasons that fans want. Dino Thunder, Time Force and of course RPM.

Give us extras, lots of extras. We know they exist. Show us how to put a monster suit together. How Koichi sets up a fight. Give us a run down on how to take the show from Japan and hammer the US version out of it.

Let us meet the cast AND the crew. Find actors from 15 years ago if you have to!
Just do it. We'll pay you handsomely for it. I've asked around, even people who don't even know the show was on for this long would love to watch it on DVD.
You guys can do it, you're the house of mouse.
And for the sake of al that is good, get some killer graphic artist for the cover work like the ones you had for NinjaStorm. Those were hot.

Can we stop the picking on Gem and Gemma? Lets see where Eddie takes them with their happy go lucky attitudes. We’ve tolerated the same thing from Sentai Rangers for YEARS so lets give PR some slack .

What a fancy episode episode 14 turned out to be. Sure I was expecting politics with Dr.K and Truman but this is much better. Venjix in bodily form is raising a few questions though. Is this the first time he’s downloaded and uploaded his program? Could this be how the Machine Empire general with the same name escaped his ultimate fate in Forever Red? I really don’t know but the prospect of having that plot device explored before the finale is something I enjoyed richly.

You know all of you are right out there on many different levels. I went to a few forums outside of the Rangerverse and you know what? The same conversations are going on in those places that are going on within the Ranger communities. People love this show, I mean as in REALLY love it. If RPM had the exposure is deserves, good grief you are talking tons of revenue for Disney. People would eat up the DVDs, T-Shirts and all that good stuff that comes with being a successful genre show.

This might actually be the best Power Ranger season of all time. The Pacing is excellently executed, great dialog through the scripts, camera work is fresh, editing is not choppy, musical cues are fantastic, sound effects actually sound good, the acting is real, story progression is nice, the stuntwork is amazingly choreographed, casting was spot on, the chemistry is incredible, and the direction has been the best I've seen in a very long time...Dare I go on?

There have been great seasons before now, but the one season that I think is in line for being able to overtake Time Force and Zeo and possibly take the place of the original in my heart of hearts, it is this season

A Question to Power Ranger Haters, Do You Like RPM?

Been jumping around the net to get some perspectives about this season from people who do not normally watch Power Rangers. The response has been 99% positive. People who've really not cared to watch to show in the last 10 years are suddenly flocking back and loving what they're seeing. It plays into this Ninja's theory:
This show would kill in the ratings if given the chance.

But of course Disney is bent on it not getting the attention it needs in the media for this to happen. They want to finish the show and be done with it, but man I tell you, if Susan Boyle can make a success on YouTube, I wonder if Power Rangers can too.

Power Rangers RPM returns this week...

I find myself looking forward to the new episodes of this alleged final season Power Rangers with increased anticipaction. Sure, I know with each passing episode the longest running kids action series in history comes closer to it's end. But looking into this season, the whole thing is like a hot fudge sundae with all the fixings, it's sweet, it's cool but it will eventually melt away.

With every episode I can't help but want to take it all in. The dialog, fighting and everything else in this series has been outstanding. The thought that it's taken till the end of the whole show to get this good isn't a very fun thought, but at least we can appreciate it in the here and now regardless of how late it is in the series run.

What gets my upset sometimes is that this is really one of the best shows on this season, yet it is not getting the exposures it needs.
You might even ask what has Power Rangers lost in the last few years that RPM seems to have gained back? Do you think RPM would be a major hit if it actually was given half the chance that the House Of Mouse is giving Aaron Stone? I sure think so.

Good golly, that was a swell episode of RPM. I mean there was drama, action and a fantastic backstory with K. She didn't need a whole lot about her to have a great story, just what she did. She released the Venjix virus. But she never said she made it.
In fact I dare to say that she discovered it, sure she let it out, but she found the thing as far as I can tell. Heres something I noticed, this virus has the same color scheme as a certain Machine Empire general, right down to the black notebook and silver thingy at the bottom. Check it, I believe this was intentional

You know it's been forever since I updated this place. I've been working on bringing the Times up to date but I'll save those thoughts for another time. Right now though, the thoughts of this ninja are considering the prospect that the only show from his youth that hasn't been cancelled(and doesn't involve muppets) is in fact...canceled.

I think that this show is an important part of every young boy's life and it's departure should not be ignored. It should come back, really it should come back in some shape or form because it has been the best excuse to waste 30 minutes in front of television for almost two decades.
We should support this "final" season of RPM while we can. Sure Disney is being all weird and stuff by putting them on ABC Kids to quietly let them drown away from the spotlight, but RPM is beating the competition in the ratings. That means they are showing up and showing out despite having major setbacks. It's become obvious to this ninja that if RPM was on Disney XD it would be doing very very well. But because Disney wants to end it's current way of producing Power Rangers they haven't allowed them the exposure of the previous series.

The finale won't air till the end of the year so in the mean time let's support the cast and crew by voting to bring them to San Diego Comic Con in June. Come on Giant Killers, if this be the final shot let it count.

I have my own thoughts on the PR ending thing and I will keep it under wraps a little while longer stil. Here at the Times though I'm not posting any hearsay about it. I sat back and watched as the off season madness boiled to the brim as everyone said their last goodbyes to the show that inspired plenty of folks to become a writer, artist, director, producer, martial artist and so much more thinking that it all seemed too sketchy to me. Not that any of the sources were not to be trusted, but that the source for the sources might not have told them, everything.

Now Bandai has officially stepped forward to go totally in a new direction, " The Power Rangers are not going away in 2010"

Former EP, Eddie Guzelian has chosen StarPoints Rangercast to be where he makes his debut into the fandom. I'm reposting what will be a pretty infamous post by him earlier. Boy, the off season madness continues!

Hello. The very first meeting I ever had with Disney on the show, they told
me flat out that Jungle Fury was supposed to have been the final season of Power
Rangers. I don't remember the circumstances exactly, but something involving
foreign financing or issues with the toy company had already begun moving
forward and put them in a position of being obligated to to go ahead with the
RPM season. I guess people familiar with following the show have become used to
hearing this every year, but I took it to be true.Because it was the final
season of the show, the executives at Disney pushed me to shoot for something
that was ambitious. They told me to "swing for the fences" and often reminded me
that, because the show was essentially already cancelled, I had "nothing to
lose."The accounts that paint me as some kind of renegade producer who went
rogue and ran off to produce some overly ambitious personal vision against
Disney's wishes are all completely untrue and absurd. Disney approved a verbal
pitch for what I wanted to do with the season before I was even hired. They
approved a written bible that pretty much outlined exactly what the show became.
They approved every script and saw rushes from shooting every day. And not only
did they approve this take of the series, they demanded it and pushed me on a
daily basis to pursue my new vision of the show.At no time did I ever ask for
more money to make the show and at no time did Disney tell me that I could not
afford the version of the show that I was trying to make.Also, the stories
circulating that I did not listen to Disney's creative notes or refused to
communicate with them are all completely false. I was in constant communication
with Disney execs through out the process and cannot honestly think of a single
major creative decision that was made with out their knowledge and approval. If
anything, I felt like I had a very close and creatively collaborative
relationship with the show's execs, which made it even more difficult for me to
understand how they ultimately chose to handle my termination..

Eddie Guzelian Is Not Tim Burton

Some of the more overzealous individuals in the Power Ranger fandom have criticized this Ninja’s previous article, which can be found here, for making a simple analogy between Eddie Guzelian and Judd Lynn’s take on Power Rangers. I would much rather devote my time on speculative talk on RPM Gold and Silver, being as the news of such proposes the notion that Dr.K (Olivia Tennet) will not be the Silver Ranger this year.
But, I just want to be clear on what I was saying the previous post so that no one else will be speaking for me. Eddie Guzelian is not Tim Burton. Eddie did not direct the original Batman movie in 1989 or Edward Scissorhands and the recent Coraline . My “Return Of An Old Friend Named Chip Lynn” article was stating the obvious; two different artist can make two distinct masterpieces .
One must not go any further for an example of this than your local comic book shop. Compare Steve Ditko’s Spidey art to Jack Kirby’s work. Two men who drew things differently but yet they are respected for creating the whole spider-man art style of dramatic action and fun characters.

Realistically I cannot fully evaluate what Eddie has done with Power Rangers beyond the trailer ( which I suspect he had some hand in creating) but what little I can evaluate is that this man was a driven artist who wanted to perfect his craft. He chose to pursue that goal beyond it’s limits and ultimately his drive became detrimental .
Burton’s work on Batman should be considered when talking about Eddie’s work on RPM though. Burton is a lover of animation and live action. He has personally sketched characters that he’s later used in live action and animated projects. Eddie has a background in animation so the two share that intrest in animation. But there’s more to consider here. What Tim Burton did with Batman in the late 80s was impossible. Think about it folks, up till his vision of Batman came to screens nobody took Batman seriously. Adam West’s wackiness in the 60s incarnation of the hero weighed heavy on peoples minds. I read news articles from the year just prior to the opening of Batman that were skeptical of a full length Bat-movie since Batman was just “silly fun.”

Without Burton’s drive to change and update Batman to something more relevant less obscure there would be no Dark Knight. To a point Goyer is spared the burden of trying to introduce the concept of a serious Batman. Despite having to re-tell the story and separate it from Joel Schumaker vision ,
David Goyer didn’t have to start from scratch. The public knew what a serious Batman movie could look like after years of the hero being a joke on film thanks to Tim Burton. In this sense Lynn was the “Tim Burton” archetype who was given the task of making a story that didn’t matter to people, actually in the end matter a whole lot.
But I’m digressing from my original point here, you have two very different men who are both passionate about their Power Rangers. When Judd opens up on episode 19 with the introduction of Gem and Gemma it’s going to look and taste different from what Eddie originally planned. But different does not suddenly indicate bad taste, nor does it subjugate one taste over the other. We simply have to expect the best from both.

Power Rangers RPM Gold And Silver - Actors Confirmed!

Aaron Stone Is Awesome and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Bothers Me

Last time we talked about Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, so respectively we're about to enter the excting world of Hero Rising and Aaron Stone.
Hero Rising is a real website that launched sometime last year to promote the flagship Disney XD program Aaron Stone. The show is the brain child of Jett Jackson and Power Rangers SPD's infamous excutive producer Bruce Kalish. Bruce's style of filming can be seen throughout the first two episodes which aired last weekened before last.
This show has a hero, who unlike certain young hero rookie's, is not ready to believe any stranger at the drop of a hat. Charlie Landers is a high school basketball player who although choked on making a winning shot, at home he is the greatest video game player in the world.
In fact Charlie is so good at video games that like the Megarangers and Captain N and the Last Starfighter before him, an all too natural talent for gaming has singled him out as the best candidate for superheroics.

When I first heard about this program I wasn't expecting anything much. Memories of Fox Kids Galidor sprang to mind at first. Bruce Kalish's involvent made me happy since for the first time in four years he wasn't associated with Power Rangers any longer. This is not to say that Bruce is a bad person, no far from it. I think the man is talented in his craft, his Power Rangers treatment wasn't much to my liking though(except Jungle Fury and most of SPD)
The Famous Jett Jackson(which currently airs reruns on Disney XD) was all kinds of awesome. The concept of Jet Jackson was that a young actor played a super cool superspy on a television called Silverstone. Every other day he was a regular kid, but sometimes he'd be called to shoot another episode of his spy series.
Aaron Stone works as a quasi retelling of Silvestone. You take out Jett Jackson and replace him with Charlie Landers. Take out the part about the protagonist just being an actor playing a spy and change it to him actually being a real spy and you have some golden television right there. This show really looks like is has everything visually you liked about SPD. Cool gadgets, open shots, jit ust looks so clean and minty fresh.
The fighting is beautiful. You have little to no wires and tons of old school karate chops and butterfly kicks. You can see this show is aiming to reach an older audience just by this alone, but it does not attempt to put on brakes here. The story concepts are also in so little words, neato.
Being chased down by a bald temenator clad in janatorial garb reminded this Ninja of Back To The Future's chase scenes, and man did they have chase scenes.

The world which is Aaron Stone is one that's cool but relatable. The leads are not so fanstistic that they are unapprachable. I often rate shows and movies with these two thoughts, “Do I want to live there? Would I want those people as my friends?” If you don't want friends like Emma something is seriously wrong with you. The litteral Girl Next Door is being played by Tania Gunadi, the girl who has been one of the best parts of most of the Disney Channel Orignal Movies she's been in.

The reason I like Charlie,Kelly Blats, here is because he's a likable guy. He doesn't want to be a hero, but he takes up the mantle because he just lost his dad and the thought of losing his mother, brother or his pretty new friend next store is just that unthinkable.

So he goes gung ho for their sake, not his own. Thats very awesome. Thats Peter Parker awesome.
This might not get me major points from the fandom or Adness, but I enjoyed the first hour of Aaron Stone more than the first four hours of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. This is not to say that Aaron Stone will not drop the ball in the future or that Kamen Rider will not have many episodes down the line that I will enjoy. But it's not looking so good for KRDK so far. All this before Power Rangers RPM shows up early next month. I look forward to watching all three of these shows develop throughout this year in hopes that together they'll spark a love of Henshin heroes that has not been seen in a very long time.

Aaron Stone Is Awesome and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Bothers Me

You can consider this Ninja a lover of many, many different kinds of “Hero Shows” from round the world. France Five is awesome, Rescue Force is amazing. Superhuman Samurai was cool, VR Troopers was better. There any more hero shows out these days then ever before, but here in the west we will have three choices this year. The choices are Kamen Rider:Dragon Knight, Aaron Stone and of course Power Rangers RPM. All very different in their visual presentation, all very similar in the way they handle their action sequences.

I always prefer the bad news come first, so here goes a mouthfull

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is ridiculously boring and jaw dropping amazing all at once.
You guys and gals out there don't know how much this Ninja WANTED this to be good. And don't get me wrong, there are many things to love here. But there have been a few major problems that must be addressed by someone.

-Continuous camera pans and random edits are awkward
The Ranger fandom has up in arms in the last few years with the way the great Koichi Sakamoto would overdo the slowmo effects. The effects would guarantee that the Ranger's action scenes would take twice as long to watch, meaning the Rangers would be floating and screaming mid-ar for what seemed like forever.
Kamen Rider Dragon Knight has slow motion effects applied to it's video as well, but it's more hit or miss. Every fight seems more music video then epic battle. The stunts are outstanding and the performers are true athletes in the highest caliber. But with the randomness of edits and the apparent lack there of, the action scenes are sometimes hard to even watch all the way through.

Good grief. Is everyone on this show so unbelievably naive? Every time anyone says anything strange or out of the ordinary the other person believes them without any restraint. Except the shop kid, I like him.
Kamen Rider Incisor,whom I will now refer only as "Richie Rich", was a rich kid who had everything he wanted laid out before him.Then suddenly some man(who was the evil General Xaviax in disguise) dressed in a sharp suit drops out of the sky claiming to be his father's new lawyer tells him that he's out of the house and that daddy is cutting him off from the family wealth. The mysterious lawyer simply tells this to Richie Rich and he believes him wholeheartedly. Richie Rich spends what seems to be a good amount of time with this stange lawyer without so much as calling his dad to clear up any possible misconceptions.
It would seem as if this following of the evil Xaviax is due to the good general having some extraordinary ability to control peoples minds.

Then again apparently everyone can pull this off except Maya who can't seem to convince anyone of anything and she wants to be a reporter? Excuse me?
I watched the recent episodes with Torque trying to “trick” Kit into thinking Wing Knight is working for Xaviax. But I use the word “trick” loosely since Kit seems to be one of the most gullible folks I've seen on television in ages. Kit believes the lie that Wing Knight is bad news.
He witnesses Xaviax speaking almost passingly to Wing Knight, and instead of you know, asking Wing Knight what was going on...he bails.

In the next episode Kit, the great defective detective can clearly be seen fighting the same monsters that Wing Knight is fighting. Thats right folks, in Kit's mind Wing Knight, the man who saved his life, is working for the bad guy Xaviax. So when he runs across Wing Knight again, Wing Knight is seen fighting the very monsters Xaviax dispatches himself. So Kit helps fight off the monsters that Wing Knight was fighting well before he arrived. Obviously Wing Knight is somehow forcing the monsters to attack him and beat him senseless, because Kit continues asserting that the friend who saved his newbie behind many times is a filthy traitorous liar.

The character of Kit Taylor is so gullible he could have his own show where he would get shipped wrecked among the wee people in Tir Na Nog and call the show “Gullible's Travels”

Now the good about Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is that it does have a sense of direction in spite of it's obvious flaws. The team behind it want to get to the rest of the Riders in an orderly fashion. Keeping the feeling of a true Tokusatsu series made by Americans is key here and can be felt throughout each episode. One issue I have with it though is that in Tokusatsu series, especially Kamen Rider, have musical tracks to accompany each battle. This show creates an awesome theme song but doesn't put it or anything like it within the show itself.
I would have enjoyed seeing the fights they've put together with some Rider Chips on the side.
The story in the show has gotten much better despite Kit and other Riders believing anything that comes out of a strangers mouth.

I do enjoy thought of an American KR adaptation and I must cut them some slack since this is the first of it's kind in years. Don't expect so much slack from this Ninja come toward of the end of the series though.

Power Rangers RPM “Return Of An Old Friend Named Chip Lynn”

Talk about a maddening off season. This has been bloody insanity for the longest time. There should have been someone a video camera documenting all the stuff that went down in the last three to four months. Things have just gotten so much more complicated, and yet many of us are finding ourselves that much more intrigued.
Judd “Chip” Lynn is back on board PR apparently as the second Executive Producer for Power Rangers RPM. This is coming after the exit of Eddie Guzelian who some people, including this Ninja, believe saved PR from the bitterness of monotony. Before we get to Judd lets chat about this one Eddie fellow. This is a man with his heart sold on animation. He has dedicated his life to producing art to the best of his ability. Trying to bring out the best in any project he falls in love with.
Animation directors always want to have full control of a project, you would see Donald Duck as the Firelord unless the big people in charge of the show wanted it.

With that mindset Mr.Guzelian tried his hardest to get the show above it's usual par and beyond anything ever attempted by Disney...ever.
But this love he had for this project, this driving determination to perfect his craft was lost on the Disney execs. In fact they ended up firing him. Eddie was so driven that he ignored Disney's intructions. Seemingly going to Kiwi land and throwing away the rule book that Bruce Kalish stuck to
by the letter for four years. And this is not a gripe to Bruce personally, he had a vision for PR and conformed it to Disney's standards. Eddie had a vision and he ran with it full force.
Taking on the project practically on himself Eddie tried to forge the greatest Power Ranger epic he could possibly imagine. This sounds great and heroic to most fans, including me. But this sounds like the perfect storm for chaos. And for Eddie it was. Disney just could not control PR anymore, the ever green had well, morphed into some new wild animal that they could not tame with Eddie at the helm. So they let him go.
Personally it's music to my ears to see, hear and read about the stuff going into thie season's first 18 episodes. But as a man going into production myself I must say this was a bad business decision.
If I were Disney exec I would probably have taken the same action. I might not care much for the product,*I'm speaking as an executive here* but it's mine not yours.

Enter Judd Lynn
During the 90s my favorite writers for children's television, back when I actually was a kid, were Judd Lynn, Jackie Marchand and Paul Dini. Dini isn't Power Ranger related but I dug his work anyway.
Jackie and Judd were like something I never seen on a kid show. For you WWE fans they were Rock & Sock Connection. And I am for goodness sake not just speaking on their work on Time Force.
PRTF was of course outstanding in the writing, and directing and stuntwork. But Judd was great in patching up the holes in Power Rangers Turbo that were left by Doug Sloan early departure in 97.
Giving us some true golden moments plus the ending that let the show into Judd and Jackie's opus Power Rangers In Space. Now Mr.Lynn returns to town, he seems to want to repeat what he did the last time by taking the show in a complete different direction than what Eddie was gearing, heh, for.
The some of the actors are unhappy with the new scripts and the change from what Eddie had in mind.
I WAS wearing my worried ninja mask when I heard we lost the EP in mid season. I put my “Super Cotton Pickin' Excited!!111” hat on when I heard the infamous Mr. Lynn was taking over the show.

Of course many if not most of the Ranger community is crying fowl over this. We L-O-V-E love what we're seeing in the now removed YouTube RPM promo. If the actors are unhappy with Chip's direction shouldn't we be unhappy too?

But I say we let this all play out. Judd has more than proven himself capable of some of the most fantastic stories in PR history. From Mike's giant pizza to Dawn Of Destiny. The man has many ways of telling a good story and I fully trust him to handle this with professionalism and respect for the show.
It will be different though. You do not call in half of the greatest writing team in Ranger history just to patch things up. Eddie was Tim Burton, Judd is David Goyer. With new leaders the style changes but the end result is still good in it's own way.

A retraction and apology to Jay Francis & Walt Disney Television Animation

To all involved, to Jay Francis and to Walt Disney Television Animation,

I have this morning received communication from Jay Francis at Walt Disney Television Animation indicating "the statements that you made in the posting are not ture. By this letter I am requesting that you please post on the board a retraction of your original posting correcting the misstatements that you made and that you also take down your original posting from the Ranger Board."

Well, frankly I'm more than a little confused and disappointed. In my original posting I indicated from the very start that this was a hypothetical thread.

I also indicated in several postings that it was absolutely untrue that Disney had approached either me or KCS about creating a new PR series.

What I will tell you now is that this exercise was part of a plan on my part, alone, to approach Jay and Disney with not only a new concept for PR but, much more importantly, with an amazing idea that would work in tandem with a fan-generated to concept to create a built-in audience of countless millions of viewers.

My hope was to first come up with a fantastic pool of ideas that I could present to Jay as a part of the entire campaign -- the campaign to be discussed in a phone call with him. I thought that having over 30,000 views of my two threads in the span of a week would serve as an indication of the enormous interest in the franchise and perhaps be the foundation of constructing so exciting new PR series.

Regrettably, it appears my efforts were both in vain and ill-advised because rather than having my phone calls to him returned, I have now received this letter. And as you all know there have been a lot of vitriolic responses on the web to my efforts -- some of those repsonses no doubt resulting in calls to Jay, which I also regret as this would have taken from his valuable time.

So it seems that through what I had envisioned as a fun exercise that would hopefully result in a groundbreaking campaign designed to generate billions of dollars for Disney -- something I have done in the past for others -- I have instead unintentionally offended Jsy, Disney and a lot of people by overstepping my boundaries by even proposing a hypothetical situations. For this I apologize to all, but especially to Jay Francis and Walt Disney Television Animation.

So first let me say that I will completely abide by Jay's wishes and that this posting shall constitute a formal "retraction of my original posting", which I shall "take from the board." I will again reiterate that it was originally posed as a hypothetical situation.

I deeply regret involving Jay in a manner that he considers negative. Jay Francis is one of this industry's true good guys, along with being a highly talented executive and someone I have respected and considered to be my friend for many years. That this may have caused him a problem is something that weighs heavily upon me.

To all the fans here at rangerboard.com, I also want to express my apology for the amount of time and effort you have put into this exercise. I was always well-intended here and so it was always difficult for me to understand why so many people were angry from the start. My thoughts were always to be trying to create something exciting for the Power Rangers fans, by the fans of Power Rangers, fans to whom I owe so very much.

I cannot express how disapppointed I am that Disney would not return my initial phone calls so I could at least explain what I was doing in trying to build momentum for this project. But in hindsight I now believe I should have approached Jay with this idea first and explained what I had hoped to do and then to do it with his blessing. But then hindsight is always 20/20 and I was a bit blinded by my own enthusiasm about this and my belief that Jay would give me a hearing on it because of the tidal wave of interest I had created. In this I now realize I was wrong and that the entire approach was wrong. What I now I understand and appreciate is Disney's protectiveness of their franchise and that my efforts may have unintentionally caused them a problem. For this I apologize.

It had been my intention to reveal the entire campaign I had envisioned on this Saturday night. Now this cannot be.

I now will retire from this board with a personal apology to all of you and with an apology to all Power Rangers fans on all boards and everywhere around the web. I've truly enjoyed the interaction here and I am sad to go. I'm certain a good number of fans out there will say, for whatever reason, "Good riddance." So in this at least I have made some of you happy.

It seems I have no other option so, to paraphrase my favorite general, "Old Power Rangers fans never die...they just fade away." And on that note, this old Power Rangers fan will fade away...

I wish all of you well. Please try not to think too badly of me.

Power Rangers Off Season Madness

2009 has hardly had time to sink in yet. The man I voted for last November is sitting in the White House already and in less than a month television as we know it will cease to exist.

We've had Kamen Rider return to the United States with varying degrees of praise and criticism coming from the net. Japan debuted the latest Kamen Rider series with Kamen Rider Decade with Shinkenger, the latest Sentai series, coming later this month.

In the midst of all this the Power Ranger series is experiencing its latest growing pain.

The off season between last year's season finale “The Final Fury” and this year's primeire “The Road To Corinth” has been confusing, irritating, negative, positive and long. I need to say that again, it's been very long this year. This is due in part to Disney taking it off all their cable outlets and moving it to ABC Kids (which gives it a March 7th U.S. airdate) and all the hubub thats come running out like a very fat man on rollerscates coming down a very steep hill.

First of all the lets make sure everyone who reads the GKA Times knows that PR will NOT be on Disney's new station Disney XD anywhere in the foreseeable future.

Power Rangers RPM will strictly be airing on ABC Kids.

What happened? Well Disney can be pretty schizoid when it comes to their ownership of certain properties and business relationships. Remember they almost lost Pixar and most recently they dropped Narnia, blaming it's poor Box Office performance on a dying franchise when Bob Iger said they{Disney} goofed by putting it up against the Dark Knight last summer. Well with that said you can bear Kyl's latest news about PR with a better understanding at what this company is capable of in the negative sense.

Thats right, Power Rangers was >almost< style=""> straight for the chopping block just before the good O' chaps from Jetix Europe swooped in and stood up for the Rangers and in the process gained the respect of fans round' the world..I really see this as Disney calling PR's bluff. They want to see if the show can survive without a cable outlet. Well, from the looks of things Jetix Europe (which was recently bought by Disney) is going to put more into this season than any other Disney produced season series.

I eagerly await the season opener.

Now enough of the negative, lets flip that around to the positive side shall we?.

Bob Olesker, the original creator of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has come out of the null void of time to reach out to the Ranger lovin' masses for a little input. You have until the 7th of this month to post a one page story concept for the future of >insert link Power Rangers insert link.

And not just any concept, an earth shattering one. There are implications of just about whatever you can think of going on in that thread, Bob is mum but if you read between the lines you might find something really interesting. Personally, I want a Micheal Bay Transformers' type summer blockbuster with Shia Labuff as Jason, Brenda Song as Trini but that's just me I guess.

Now in the meantime, I will keep and eye out for this year's so far unnamed Yellow and Green Rangers, I will call them the Succotash Squad from now on.

Any Mighty Morphin Power Ranger fan remembers Ernie's Juice Bar. The second Command Center of the original team. Bulk and Skulls antics, the original team's constant martial art and gymnastic training... Ernie,Richard Michael Genelle, was always there to offer a kind word of encouragement whenever the Rangers needed it. He poured a glass of wisdom and goodwill with every glass of soda.

Richard Michael Genelle age 47, resident of Corona, formerly of Riverside (Woodcrest) for 24 years, passed away 12/30/2008 at Corona Regional, due to a heart attack. Richard was born on 10/12/1961 in New York.
He was President/Owner of Retail Logistics Solutions in Cerritos, CA. Richard was a graduate of John Glen High School in Long Island, NY. He was Fantasy Football Galactic Hitmen Winner 3 our of 4 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Rosa Isela Genelle of Corona; daughter, Sophia Rose Genelle of Corona; son, Joseph Richard Genelle of Corona; mother, Ellen T. Genelle of Riverside; nephews, Andy Genelle and Richard Barajas, both of Riverside; sister, Theresa E. Barajas of Missouri.

Good ole Fury Diamond, the Ranger fandom's answer Santa Claus apparently, has given word that Olivia Tennet will be joining the cast of Power Rangers RPM as the team's mentor Dr.k Olivia is 18 years old and although has accomplished a fair amount of screentime in her young life, us Yankees will recognize her as the little girl in the Two Towers being placed on horse with her brother to escape because their village in the Westfold is under attack from Uruk-hai and Wild Men.

A good indication we'll be getting the standard 1-hour fare, unless ABC Kids plans on repeating the episode immediately afterwards. And if you look at the schedule (link below), each week after launch is double-slotted, indicating we may be alternating between double-bills and Jungle Fury repeats throughout the spring.

I'm just glad we've got something solid. It is ridiculous that this is the first -- and currently only -- public acknowledgement of RPM by Disney.

Good Grief! Everybody cool down

I must say that although the constant mentioning of The GKA Times by so many folks is something I appreciate. The thought that the Times has provided any misleading comments I don't appreciate.
Whats happening here is that we have a major shift in television about to take place and the longest running childrens programing that doesn't air on PBS isn't listed anywhere online...

Yes I believe Kyl and Burg are our top resources when it comes to solid take it to be bank news. And I think the GKA Times has had a hand in the post in ushering in the Rangernews. The only thing thats happened here is that Fun decided to read further into the negative then he probably should have.
Of course, if the current promotion reels are any indication, there isn't a lot to read into the positive either.

This whole mess is a mess because nobody really can flat out say anything with 110% accuracy since none of us providing the information work for Disney.
In the meantime don't blame it all on Fun. He's dedicated and willing to look for a good story relating to PR. He was right about the buyout of Jetix Europe last month.

Don't make this a personal issue folks, he really doesn't want to cause any problems. But this season is just so freaking hyped up that anything will stir the masses.

Greg Weisman and Victor Cook are supervising producers. Stan Lee, Craig Kyle and Eric Rollman are executive producers. Based on Marvel Entertainment's popular superhero, "The Spectacular Spider-Man" is produced by Culver Entertainment, a Sony Pictures Television Company. It will be joining "Batman: The Animated Series," "Superman: The Animated Series," "Spider-Man" and "Iron Man" on the Disney XD schedule.

Where Are The Power Rangers?

It's less than two months from February 17th, the day when broadcast television comes to an end.
Disney is set to launch an all new network featuring shows aimed at boys.
We are getting promos for Static Shock, SpiderMan and Even Stevens...

But no PR? What gives?
I can understand the fact that Aaron Stone is XD's first original series and of course that needs promotion the most. But what I don't get is why Static Shock gets a mention and PR doesn't?
It just does not compute with me why a Jetix flagship series isn't getting, or demanding the respect I was expect so very close to the air date.

I have to concede that the issue of most fans in the Randerdom not knowing exactly what will happen this season is very humbling. For years we would have known the basics by now, but this time, the season is actually going to be somewhat a surprise.
I eagerly await a new PR promo soon, perhaps this week. But in the meantime it's fun to speculate and read too far into Forever Red.

Remember back in October, when it first emerged Jetix Europe were co-producing RPM? There was debate over what they were exactly doing to warrant equal credit to Disney and Bandai?

Well, we still don't know for certain, but if my not-so-insider-but-more-insider-than-any-of-us source is anything to go by, we could be in for one of the biggest shake-ups in PR history!

My source tells me Jetix Europe are down in New Zealand prepping themselves (and footage) for a local version of Power Rangers, a.k.a. "Euro Rangers."

Given the facts Power Rangers has done really well in recent years across Europe (mainly the UK and Italy), and Disney just bought out the whole of Jetix Europe with hopes of producing more Disney-branded European content, this isn't really that surprising.

The buyout makes Jetix Europe the fourth largest Disney Media Network, after only ABC Studios, ESPN and Disney Channel. With that kind of power, they can very easily do whatever series they please, as long as it makes money for Disney. A local version of Power Rangers is actually a pretty safe bet.

I doubt this would have any affect on the US version of the show, except maybe we'll see less "America" in some of the US fight footage and they become more generic. It wouldn't splice very well if London traffic suddenly changed direction during an action sequence.

Exciting times, people, exciting times.

Hey! Thought I'd introduce myself before I start posting away. I'm Fundodo, a regular poster over at HJU. NinjaJack has kindly invited me to write for his very cool blog!

Bit about me: I'm a student studying Art here in Britain, but I regularly work freelance in film and animation production. I have managed to blag myself some pretty awesome gigs and contacts, and sometimes I get awesome tidbits about movies and TV shows.

Can't believe in a few days we will be seeing the RPM promos pop up. I'm every excited about this season with all the Mad Max inspired stuff and all that. And for the record I think Aaron Stone looks top notch.

Now on to business. PR could be heading down a bumpy road this season but at this point all the hubub is just rumors. Albeit reliable ones, I won't touch on the negative RPM rumors until I sincerely believe that they are facts. We have people claiming that everything, yes /Everything/ we've learned about Power Rangers RPM is in fact a hoax. Then we have naysayers that speak of RPM's apparently leaked info about a Mad Max themed season is to be trusted. Whoever is right better fess up soon, because I'm not posting anything up here until we get something more solid in. Change is Coming to Power Rangers 2009

Season 17 is repidly heading our way and already it's making waves, REALLY BIG WAVES.

According to the most recent leaked information Power Rangers RPM(Racing Performence Machines) is set to blow the industry standard PR clear out of the water with it's new changes.
Take a look at the facts...

-Jackie Marchand IS GONE!

After many years of service the greatest name in writing within the Rangerverse has decided to leave PR and move on to other things. She will have episodes early on in next season but it's believed that those will be her only contributions

-New Executive Producer
Whoever the new EP is he or she is changing the show leaps and bounds and by the time it actually airs it's a good chance that it will not look anything like the typical PR in the last few seasons.

-New stunt team
It's been said that Alpha Stunts IS Power Rangers. but this season we won't have them pulling off the stunts. Theres a new stunt team in town, BOS Stunts the folks behind the awesome Bag Raiders video on YouTube have taken over the show's action department

-New direction
If you've ever watch Engine Sentai Go-Onger you'll notice the show is pretty light, but this will not be the case when it's brought stateside as Power Rangers RPM. The word is that the show is aiming for a more complex and intelligent direction. In otherwords, the Rangers are growing up this season and will be aimed at young teens.

-Story concepts
If you don't know by now the season takes place in the near future after a war has broken out between man and machine. The Rangers pilot biotech zords which may or may not speak.
The series is looking to be more Mad Max this time around, dusty driving scenes included.

So there you have it, a new era in PR is upon us and I'm expecting it to be a major season. And when I say major I'm not saying it like when I said Jungle Fury would be good. I say major now as in this is Disney's best foot forward, this is Disney trying to push PR into the mainstream in a big way. Next year should be pretty outstanding.

Superheroes Come In All Colors-Except Pink

As you try to compute the poetic meaning of the proceeding heading try not to let your head explode trying to figure it out.

It's really not very hard to grasp, it's just a simple fact of life, or so it seems. In almost 20 years the producers behind the Power Ranger show have never, I say never, given the second most popular powersuit next to Red to a black female.

That's right, over 15 years and the closest the people in production ever came to overcoming this has been the sensational Rhoda Montemayor,Jessica Rey and Angie Diaz. And I will not overlook their contributions to the show but I still have to wonder why when it comes to diversity in the team every helmet is up for grabs but Pink seems to be practically off limits to change.

And whats so strange about change? Well most people don't like it because it rocks the boat when otherwise theres smooth sailing.

You see whether you choose to believe this or not, television producers aren't foaming at the mouth to show blacks in the media outside of the 6 o'clock news. Blacks in genre television and movies tend not to be the seen as main hero. They are regulated to the role of potty mouthed, comedic sidekick, whose sole purpose is helping the main hero out. He also is credited to blow junk up and look tough with a gun in his hand.

Case in point last year's mega blockbuster "Transformers". The script might have been less than stellar for some but I generally enjoyed it. Except for how when we're introduced to my personal favorite Autobot Jazz, he greets his new human friends as b--ches.

Call me a prude, but why didn't he get to speak all polite like the rest of the Transformers? I think I can tell you why. When the producers saw that there was a black guy among the Autobots they had to make sure you knew it. Had to make sure that he was black enough.

Black superheroes sometimes come off as just caricatures of the mass media stereotypes.

Rappers glamorized the thug life style and most of their swag ends up being bought by more whites than blacks. The black culture at large takes this and find in it a culture that's counter to popular "white" culture. The moment someone in the Afro American community slips up and gets arrested they are wearing the rappers FuBu clothes. Their faces are then plastered on television in the homes of people ignorant and informed. The result is a continued negative outlook on blacks in the media at large. We're the scary people, don't get us mad or we might rob you.

I might sound like I'm veering away from the subject but honestly, I'm not.

It's this perceived fear that drives decisions on bringing on black characters. Will they play into the hype or fight against the stereotype?

You see whenever you have one black person on a TV show or within the pages of a comic book. That character has a chance to make a name for his or herself. But this really depends on how the black character is handled by the writing team.

I can give you two examples in Power Rangers.

Keith Robinson's Joel Rawlings(Lightspeed Rescue} and Samuell Benta's Will Aston, (Operation Overdrive) we could get into their individual acting ability later(Keith gets my vote personally)

but who was written to play on peoples perceptions of the black male and who was an actual character.

Will was a self serving thief and he wore his hair in cornrows. He was the rebel and brought us a teenager with a pimp attitude. While on the other side of the spectrum Joel was freaking cowboy who loved country music and wearing big cowboy hats.

You can't get much more further away from forced hip hop culture than cowboy hats. Joel was a honest hero who reminded me a great bit of Clarence Gilyard Jr. role as James "Jimmy" Trivette from Walker.

I mean at the end of the season which was present as someone valiant and which was present as someone who would leave you in the dust to save his own behind? I'd pick Joel.

Now I must profess that Power Rangers has been fair to provide morphers of almost every shade human flesh that God ever created.

We've had Red Rangers from a ton of places, but I've have never seen a black woman in a pink powersuit. I mean what is the Pink Ranger supposed to represent anyway?

Is she meant to be presented as the perfect all American girl? And if so, why can't the term "All American Girl" include black girls too?

Our 300th Post & The Power Rangers RPM Logo!

Sure it's taken time to get here but we've reached three hundred posts here on the GKA Times! And on my birthday no less.

When I started this place it was to somewhere Ranger and Henshin fans could read up the news and peoples involved in our fandom in a professional setting. An outlet for fans and for the people behind the show to intersect. There have been many advancements from other places like ours that seems to have reached above and beyond our humble attempts. But with much due respect I love this place despite not having podcasts(at the moment) or going to every Ranger gathering

Here at the GKA Times we strive for excellence and we will continue to provide the fans with the most of that excellence we can spare.

Now on to the news

Linear Ranger has provided the Power Rangers RPM logo on Rangerboard.

As you can see it's simplistic but very sleak. It does remind of the Power Rangers Turbo logo somewhat, which isn't a bad thing since most ofTurbo was pretty good

In other news actress Heidi Kathy Bradhurt who we recently believed to be next season's Yellow Ranger is in fact not the Yellow Ranger. She's actually posted on her bio page that she sorry for the confusion but she'll be playing someone else this season. And we would like to apologize for any confusion on our part as far the confirmation goes.

Ron Wasserman's Take On the RPM demo themes

There is a lot of hoopla over the new demo themes for Power Rangers RPM.
So I thought it would be good idea to get some insight from the man behind so much of the Power Rangers musical history,
The Mighty Raw Ron Wasserman.

RW:I did like #1 best. It has attitude and confidence although I think
the chorus really isn't different enough from the verse. I would have
gone into something more heroic and higher and a stronger more
memorable shorter hook.

RW:#2. Never really went anywhere. No memorable chorus.

RW:#3. Didn't like it at all. tries way too hard and sounds a lot like the stuff Saban did after I left.

RW:#4 ain't bad. The verse is a little scattered but at least it has the right energy. Still not the strongest hook/chorus in the world imho.

RW:I want to make clear I mean no disrespect to any of the writers or artists here, I'm not saying I could of done better, but I'm always brutally honest about MY opinion period right or wrong.

Anna Hutchison in "Underbelly"

Power Rangers RPM The Demo Themes

Let's take a look at themes new intro themes for the upcoming season shall we?

Theme #1 This first one feels really great and fresh but only because they're not rapping for the second year in a row. This one starts with a wild western guitar riff giving off hints of

Ennio Morricone's

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. It then rolls into something similar to Jungle Fury's theme. Mentioning of the main villain (Venjix instead of Dai Shi) coupled with some cheers of "Let's Go!" The line "We'e here to save humanity" really gives the song an epic tone.

The hooks aren't bad and if you do some homework you'll find they originate from a certain Blink 182 song.

Theme #2 The second theme isn't that bad by a long shot. It' features even more of a old wild west introduction than the first I can safely say that they put some heart into this one . And the theme presents even more words implying of human kind facing extinction with the line "Survival of humankind". It kind of reminds me of a Yu-Gi-Oh theme though, I hate Yu-Gi-Oh, but I could live with this song.

Theme #3 Ugh, the singer in this theme grates my ears. Like Theme #2 it sounds very much like 4Kids idea of Rock & Roll, but this sounds like their absolute worst effort. I hope this isn't our theme. I'd rather listen to Operation Overdrive's theme tune a hundred times a day than listen this Kidz Bop crud for the rest of next year.

Theme #4 Well, I still like Theme #1 but four reminds me of the old Superpower songs like "Invincible" "Big Bang" and so many others. I just love the hooks and drums and the singing. I would enjoy the first, but I have to admit this would be a personal favorite now that I've listened to it more. I would not mind hearing this more offten since it's so old school. We don't get really those hard hitting drums in the new season themes except for in SPD. Plus, it reminds me of the Zeo theme.

So I'm going with #1 but believe me I want to hear number #4 again too.

First thought that comes to my mind is how much she looks like Anna, but that's just the makeup she's wearing. Yellow Rangers seem to always be brunettes for some strange reason.

The Power Rangers Phenomenon A word to the critics

Now, I know many of you out there are going to be young adults( between the ages of 18 and 30 who have probably long forgotten that years ago in a decade called The 90s every kid in the neighborhood didn’t want a Pokemon or anything else you might see kids craving these days. They wanted a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.

A little show about five teenagers who could have come straight from Bayside(only people from the previously mentioned age group will remember what show the term "Bayside" originates) that in times when the world needed them would risk their lives against the forces of Rita Repulsa.
About a year goes by and some of these ‘Power Rangers’ take their leave to other callings as newbies are called in. The newest villain Lord Zedd finds the one good thing inside him is the true love for his former underling Rita Repulsa, who by the end of the final season is his dearly devoted (and pain in the neck) wife.
And that’s about it…isn’t it?

Theres got to be more…
Ah, but there is more, oh so much more.
This is the one television series I’ve followed pratically without end since it started.
It has outlasted the X-Files, Xena, Hercules,Stargate, Babylon 5, Earth Final Conflict... wait, wait, you mean you think I just watch this show for the color coordinated suits? You think I and others like me would watch this show if it had no science fiction or dramatic appeal? Please, give us Ranger fans more respect than that. The power suits have a great uniformed draw to them of course, but so do the various robots in Transformers. That is to say that there are thousands of robotic themed TV shows but only one with the heart, erm, Spark that gets my TV time the most.

It’s that Spark, or heart that drives the die hard Ranger fan to this show. But when all you see is a cheap 20 minute piece of trash production you’re not looking with your heart. This show is put together by the some of the most dedicated people in Hollywood and New Zealand. Some of them have even worked on Hercules, Xena and Lord Of The Rings. The actors have gotten their hands dirty helping out where they could, the cast and crew are a family unit. And most of all they bend over backwards to pull off little miricles for the fans each year.

As you can tell I look at a lot of science fiction, I’ve read a fair number of science fiction novels, watched plenty of movies even listened to radio dramas from the 40s.

And I say that this show is highly deserving in being established as one of the top science fiction programs ever produced. Of course it doesn’t always have the depth of Doctor Who or Star Trek, but believe me it certainly is not from a lack of trying. 1998’s Power Rangers in Space is a fantactic ride where the heroes set across the stars to find their leader Zordon who was snatched from his home only to have to sacrifice his life to save the universe in the end. 2005’s Power Rangers SPD was about a group of rookie cops, allusions of racial tension and finding out your purpose as a young adult while trying to deal with being a cop in the near future..
Time Force is just awesome.

Now I know PR fans are everywhere but most think they will be embarresed by the show biut I tell you this, man, this is one of the shows I want my kids to grow up watching. This series that features a battle good vs evil, no cussing, martial arts(done expertly well) honor, loyalty, self sacrifice, love, dealing with hate, racism, grief, regret and positive and negative choices. I could go on forever.

Everyboy grows up, and everyboy grew up with at least one season close to heart. All the reviews for the latest game Super Legends are surprisingly not directly negative towards the idea of a Power Ranger game. In fact most of the gamers I’ve talked to spoke about how they wanted something better than normal Ranger game. In other words if there was a bad( bad being good) Power Ranger game they’d snatch it up.
See what this show really does at it’s core is talk to the hearts of people who in the end want to do the what's right. Who wish they were stronger in times of distress, whipping out a morpher

at the first sign of approaching danger. There is just something downright awesome about seing the good guys whip the badguys into shape. And this show does it everyday with a whopping 600+episodes.
This is my show and it could be your show is you stopped a looked at a few episodes, or even asked a Ranger fan why do we like it so much. You’ll be glad you did

Power Rangers RPM: The Plotline Thickens

Kyl415 is one of the most trusted posters in the Power Ranger fandom. For years he's provided us( the whole fandom) with tons of information and episode titles before they even aired. With such a rich history behind him you can trust Kyl to post accurate information.

Hello, sir or ma'am I'm not your target audience

I would just like to make this little observation before you go on and everyone learns to either love or loathe your work and your name.
As EP of this show you must understand that with it comes in laws.
Fans, yes people well into their 40s and up will be watching your show with just as much love as the 4 year olds. If you're working with Koichi and or Jackie you will notice that there is a long history with this program and with it a long list of fans from all walks of life.
This show is dear to me personally because I remember waking up in the wee hours to watch it, and to see it still on really makes me happy.

Now there will be times when your other audience, not the kids, won't be happy. In fact you will be shocked by the amount of flames that come out of the forums during the next year. But fear not, the fans are just worried, this show is kind of like an old friend or relative, and well you're the one who will be marrying into the family. We just want what's best for the show.

But just don't take anything to your heard here, we fans might not be in charge of the show or know the first thing that goes into making this the world wide franchise that it is exactly. But we do love this show and would hate to see it go down the drain in anyone's hands.

We Will Never Forget...

They say you never forget where you were or what you were doing the moment the towers were hit. I was in Boston on business and was planning to visit the very top of the towers with family on the 11th. I was spared. I was spared but many more were not. It was was Americans who lost thier lives that day, some shouting to choppers for rescue even as the towers gave way. But their were also Germens, Russians, Japanese, Canadians. The biggest loss of life in US history from as terrorist attack should also be listed as a crime against humanity. There are tragedies every day that far exceeded the loss of life that morning. But at the time, this was the only one that used the nations native planes as weapons of mass destruction.

This was in fact a strike against the whole world, saying that there was nothing you people of the free world could do to stop this from happening. You will live in a world of fear and chaos for the rest of your lives... But I dare to say to folks who think that way that we won't forget about that day when Americans on Flight 93 stood up and kicked your butt.
We won't forget how thousands of New Yorkers didn't burst into a mass riot scene, but a scene of the best kind of justice, brotherly love and compassion.

We won't forget that when times were tough we were still Americans, we were still human beings and the terrorist were scum, and still are.

No we won't forget 9/11 we won't forget the courage of the NYPD and NYFD, we won't forget the love for the fellow man.
Because you know, if we do forget, that's when the terrorists win.

Well we have only handful of episoes left in this season which means we have time for at least one last story arc. This is nothing new to us, every season around this time you can spot the ending coming a mile away from either the plot development or from spoiling yourself by the majors in the sentai series. But you know what's actually strange? This season we don't have a Battlizer.

"But wait NinjaJack, we have the Strike Rider!" someone might say to me, but I don't think the bike should count seeing as it's never counted before. Whats become apparent this season is that without a Spandex Super Saiyinman running around the Rangers are forced to...stratagize...fight with some gumption...you know actually make it meaningful when they take someone down as the power TEAM.
And whats even better is that we've gotten three all new Rangers out of it. Which if this Ninja's guess it right we could get some pretty spectacular things next season. Not just new Rangers, but perhaps bigger concepts like American team power ups, bigger sets, more episodes. Now some might say that these guys would have should up regardless and Bruce just didn't want the Battlizer this year. But I would question that BOA had team power ups for OO last year in the toys but didn't have them in the show possilbly because they had the Mac attack last year.

Consider this, if there is a stratagy working here imagine if it had been done years ago. Shoot, throw the whole Red armor concept out for a second a trade it in for the major things we've wanted to see throughout the years.

SPD=Orange & Kat Ranger having an expanded roll and A-Squad sticking around for more than just the very end of the show. Having Rangers from each sector SPD was oparating in instead of having the one Ranger team be soley earth.

Operation Overdrive=Perhaps I was being too bold, scratching will would have provided much more screen team and resources well into the following seasons.

Dino Thunder=Perhaps more MMPR refs

Wild Force=Always thought there should have been a least a few more Ranger running around with the 100 zords of that season(go back and check)

Well in any case heres hoping they don't stop with the US exclusive ideas with this trio, I'd love to see Fran suit up to Puma Ranger before we end it here or a partner for Carrigator...but thats just me

All this is just wishful thinking since the past is gone and the future in our hands, I just ain't to hyped to watch six rangers sit on the sidelines next year while Red takes out armies by himself.

Alright it's been almost two months since the Licensing show in New York and we ain't got nothin' but a cartoon Red GoOnger and as of a few weeks ago a shooting date in Kiwi land. But thats next to nothing. I would expect somethng serious by now and I am sure as shooting hoping to find who is going to be helming the next few seasons now that Bruce has made his exit.

And another thing. I SURE hope the baddies next year are a vengeful Machine Empire. Theres so much PRZ/PRT nods in GoOnger it's just crazy. Even going as far as to have a Warrior Wheel robot buddy. I mean come on this season looks great already lets start seeing something solid before the year is out people.

Wow I just can't seem to say anything bad with this season. Everything that OO failed at I've been very much impressed with this season.
Dom has been one of the best "sixth" in a while. Which is to say that he has the spirit of the 6th of the Saban series that always were a little more fun to watch than say Tyzonn and Sam.

Dai Shi is much more interesting than watching Flurious sitting on his backside like he did last year.

And RJ, well that's enough said.

In a post Ranger era the film studio has decided to up the anty with Hog Day Afternoon and say that when the Alien Rangers showed up it was actually a war that left the Ranger powers devestated. There is no Command Center but ruins. There are no more Rangers in action because after the war they all disbanded or were killed in action.The world has moved on, the Rangers are as loved by one group as they are hated by another.

But Dr. Thomous Oliver is quite aware that the Rangers are needed again.He has been living in a log cabin he's built beside the ruins of the Command Center. He is the only partially active Rangere these days, doing good here and there but nothing special sense the zords and most of the weapons were never restored.His studies have found that there is a threat approaching the earth called The Machine Empire. And it will take a new team of heroes that Dr.O will have to assemble himself to protect the earth.

Since it's officially summer time, of course that means that our favorite shows are on hiatus, if you're looking for something good to watch, might I recommend 'Burn Notice?'

Currently in it's second season, the show follows the life of Michael Weston, a spy who got fired or "burned", as a result he's lost his job, his money and needs to pick up the pieces of his life by being a "private detective" of sorts all the while trying to figure out who burned him. Joining Michael is his friend Sam (played by the legendary Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead fame) and his old flame Fiona, a shoot first ask questions later type of girl.

If you haven't picked up the first season on DVD or found some other way to watch the first season, I recommend that you do, because this is one show that you will be glad to get hooked on.

Are The Power Rangers Back In Action?

Perhaps it’s just “Sixth Ranger Purple Haze” but I really think that this season is turning out to be something great. Something that I won’t mind seeing again. I couldn’t wait for last season to pick up after Tyzonn showed up, AND I AM STILL WAITING.

Ah but maybe it's all just wishful thinking on my part. We've only see one scab written episode and it is a "sixth" Ranger debut which always turns out to be pretty intense, although I liked this one better than last years Man Of Mercury... good ole Hartford can pull a morpher out for a stranger and still has the dumb dumbness to forget to make one for himself.

This season on the other hand has been nothing but entertaining, fun Rangers and tough bad guys. This to me is what Power Rangers should be .

It is always a treat for me personally to see a former Power Ranger on another television series. It is an even bigger treat to see them on anoteher action series.

So you can only imagine my glee on seeing a photo in TV Guide about a new police show called Flashpoint that deals with Canadian Emergency Response Teams or ERTs for short staring good ole Amy Jo.

Now I know that there has always been some bad blood between her and Ranger fans but thats alright. I am sure ready and willing to see her on a guest starring roll on PR anyday, but lets be honest, she probably doesn't even know it's still on let alone has the fanbase it does among young adults.

Wolf Ranger debuts Get Your Howl On

Finally the Wolf Master shows his face in battle, or should I say coveres it?

The episode had to cram two Gekiranger episodes into 2 which meant Theo lost a focus episode, but Rightous Justice trumps Smart Alec any day of the week.

Sure Grizaka was tough, yes they beat on Camille yet again. But the high point was Fran. For two episodes straight she has broken through as probably the best actress in the series.

Meanwhile the Wolf Ranger stuff was great but as expected there was no explaination to the origin of the morpher. But otherwise seeing someone who might just take the cheif seat of Tommy Oliver morph into action really was exciting.

Comic book geeks, Trekies, Star Wars fans etc...meet The Henshin Fans

Something that has been bothering my Ninja thought patern ever since the news broke a while back that Kamen Rider Dragon Knight was being given the full english adaptation treatment. It's somewhat hard to descibe or explain but here I will give it a shot.

You see if you are reading this you probably are a geek who geeks out to many movies and reads comics and has a bunch of action figures.

The thing is though, most geeks have not seen a full season or a full five minutes of any Tokusatsu. And with the coming of a new show destined to be a major hit geeks are asking themselves "What in the world is a Kamen Rider and what is he doing in my country?"
See we as Henshin geeks are in a unique postition, where as before we were laughed at for liking Hikaider and Power Rangers now we have a chance to be the ones in the know.

Most people have no idea how good this show is going to be. Kind of like when people first saw Batman Begins or Spider-Man 1. This is going to shake up Hollywood.
Trust me on this, the Wang brothers have put alot of blood, sweat and tears into this show and hard work like the cast and crew have put into it has already begun to shine through. Get set comic book, video and general superhero geeks. A new age is coming when Batman and his buddies won't be the only ones on the CW wearing a mask

Well acording to a recent post by poster Ryoutarou Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, the all new American version of Toei's long established Kamen Rider series has finally officially landed a television network to beging airing this fall.

Japan's Adness Entertainment licenses the US broadcast rights for Kamen
Rider Dragon Knight to 4Kids Entertainment, which plans to air the series as
part of TheCW4Kids Saturday morning block on The CW Network for the 2008-9
season. Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, a live-action series featuring CGI special
effects, follows the adventures of a teen discovers a mysterious deck of cards
that give him the power to transform into an ancient warrior called a Kamen
Rider. Produced by Adness Entertainment, which is adapting for the US, the
series is based on the original series Kamen Rider Ryuki, produced by the Toei
Company.

Now right now 4kds has left a poor, horrible taste in the mouths of most anime nuts. But TMNT has been awesome and we know the guys working on this show are awesome and I think since the CW shares some brass with Cartoon Network I still say it will be airing there in the crazy near future. In any case lets be glad Kamen Rider has finally arrived in the states, even if it got here in a less than impressive vehicle.

What Changes Mean In Power Rangers

History lesson to those fans who joined up after Disney bought PR.When the old team were running the show(pun intended) there was a sense in our community that PR had reached a new status quo. Nothing was going to change. PR would be like it was at the time forever. This was both postive and negative with the show keeping it's established universal elements but yet part of it felt stale.

Enter PRNS and things changed to new heights and depths. PRNS was not PRWF not by any means was it PR as normal. It was fresh it was, "A new kind of power" and with Doug and Ann on board it still had some familar hints of how the show was back in the mid 90s. Which fans loved and hated.Now comes Bruce for four years and show gets much more serious and some would say empty.
Now come new writers who will have a new take a show and theres a good chance Bruce won't be producing or writing in the coming season. So we will have a new show in a sense. How new will depend on a men and women coming in to to get their hands dirty in the coming weeks and months.

The Scab Writers Take On The Morphin Grid

Well we are done with PR as we know it. Or at least how the story is put together has shifted. How much will it shift? Or how little of diffrence it will make we won't be sure of until probably the end of the season.
But so far I really don't know what to do beyond speculate on the previous times something similar to this has happened.

Isn't It Lava-ly
This was a certain Bruce Kalish introduction episode to Power Rangers.
As I recall many fans hated this episode because nothing seemed to make sense and Bruce's writing seemed to have been oblivious to whatever Doug and crew were working on previously. And when did Elsa turn people into monsters before or after this ep?

Zapped
This was probably my favorite stand alone episode in SPD. Really well paced well thought concepts played out on screen. The interogation of the crook by the B-Squad, fighting Syd...Morgana. I just loved this episode. Helps that the writer also wrote for Justice League.

Now we come to next week's friends don't fade away which sounds like it will put the Ranger introduction on the back burner if you ask me.
From what I have read we have about 10 or so writers for possibly the rest of the year, kind of scary. I would just like to see them try to be fantastically diffrent and believe me it's not because I have not liked PRJF but in the world of PR change always spices the show up. And who knows, one of these scabs might be our next EP.

Why People Still Like Watching Power Rangers

The Power Rangers

Now many of your are going to be young adults(or older) who have long forgotten that years ago every kid in the neighborhood didn’t want a Pokemon or any anime related ninja getup to wear. They wanted a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger. A show about teenagers who could have come straight from Bayside(only people from the previously mentioned age group will know what show Bayside is located in) that in times when the world was under attack would risk their lives against the forces of Rita Repulsa
About a year goes by and some of these ‘Power Rangers’ take their leave as newbies are called in. The newest villain Lord Zedd finds the one good thing inside him is the true love for his former underling Rita Repulsa , who by the end of the final season is his dearly devoted (and pain in the neck) wife.
And that’s about it…isn’t it?

Theres got to be more…
Ah, but there is more, oh so much more.
This is the one show I’ve followed pretty much without end on televison since it started.
It has outlasted X-Files, Xena, Hercules,Stargate, Babylon 5, Earth Final Conflict... wait, you mean you think I just watch this show for the suits? You think I and others would watch this show if it had no science fiction or dramatic appeal? Please, give us Ranger fans more respect than that. The power suits have a great uniformed look to them of course, but so do the robots in Transformers. That is to say that there are thousands of robotic themed television series but only one with the heart, erm, Spark that gets my TV time the most.

It’s that Spark, or heart that drives the die hard Ranger fan to this show. But when all you see is a cheap 20 minute piece of trash production you’re not looking with your heart. This show is put together by the some of the most dedicated people in Hollywood and New Zealand. Some of them have even worked on Herc and Xena and Lord Of The Rings. The actors have gotten their hands dirty helping out where they could, the cast and crew are a family unit. And most of all they bend over backwards to pull off in little miricles for the fans each year.

I look at a lot of science fiction, I’ve read a fair number of science fiction novels. And I say that this show is deserving ot being established as one of the top science fiction programs out there. Of course it doesn’t always have the depth of Doctor Who or Star Trek, but believe me it certainly is not from a lack of trying. 1998’s Power Rangers in Space is a fantactic ride where the heroes set across the stars to find their leader Zordon who was snatched from his home only to have to sacrifice his life to save the universe in the end. 2005’s Power Rangers SPD was a group of rookies allusion of racial tension and finding out your purpose as a young adult while trying to deal with being a cop in the near future..
Time Force is just awesome.

Now I know PR fans are everywhere but most think they will be embarresed by the show biut I tell you this man, this is one of the shows I want to show my kids. This show that features good vs evil, no cussing, martial arts(done expertly well) honor, loyalty, self sacrifice, love, dealing with hate, racism, grief, regret and positive and negative choices.
Everyboy grows up and everyboy grew up with at least one season close to heart. All the reviews for the latest game Super Legends are surprisingly not directly negative towards the idea of a Power Ranger game. In fact most of the gamers I’ve talked to spoke about how they wanted something against the normal Ranger game. In other words if there was a bad( bad being good) Power Ranger game they’d snatch it up.

See what this show really does at it’s core is talk to the inside of people who might want to do the right thing , who wish they were stronger in times of distress. There is something downright awesome seing the good guys whip the badguys into shape. And this show does it everyday with a whopping 651 episodes.

This is my show and it could be your show is you stopped a looked a few episodes, or even asked a Ranger fan why do we like it so much. You’ll be lglad you did

Go On Gold And Go On Silver

Outstanding picture isn't it? Go Onger went from having the uglist set of Power Suits in decades to brining two earth shattinering awesome heroes who no doubt will be milestone Rangers. Yes Gold's suit might just cause Gao and Burai to sit back a few seat away from how cool he is, but Silver's armor is most impressive. Most awesome thing of all if that Silver is a girl and it looks like that fact will be unmistakable.
