Ready to roar!
The exact date of Monday February 18th is still a, gut wrenching, whole six weeks away from tonight, I sure am excited. The coming of the 16th and possibly last season before a major change in a new direction has me wondering whats what and how big is this whole bang that P.A. has been talking about.
Because you know what? I don't want to be too critical of Operation Overdrive, but as much as I loved the OO cast and Mack's storyline, as much a I loved the execution of the Fear Cats and the idea of having multiple villains...Overdrive kind of fizzled towards the end.
Wait, no that is being a bit too critical. Overdrive had potential to be fun with everyone hunting for this great crown of power. But because many things were left out of the whole series alot of this potential barely drizzled out.
1.Rangers
We never know why the Rangers want the crown so bad
Sure the easy thing to say would be that because Hartford wanted it, but if you ask me he was never fully straightforward with his plans for it either. Was he REALLY only searching for it so that Mack could be human? And why were the Ranger so amped to find it when they left their jobs for absolutely nothing to gain except a want to direct!
2.Wanting of the jewels
The badguys were never clear why they wanted the Corona Aurora, aside from the typical "Power!" speech most, if not everyone, failed to give proper reasoning for stealing it.
This whole season's plot device was handled pretty good with the Lights Of Orion story in PRLG, too bad the five jewels that conveniently corosponded with the Rangers own colors didn't provide a last minute power up--hey even a spray on metallic armor would have sufficed.
3.Villains
Florious not actually being in charge but just ordering Norg around really hurt the whole show.
In fact I think Operation Overdrive's biggest problems came from the over abundance of villainy that had little to no relationship to one another making their fighting the Rangers in important arcs just a spinning of the bottle of random battles.
4.Sharing/Points system
This is just something I picked up over my watching OO, but if say we only had one girl on the team last year and kept the whole Tyzonne crushes on earth girl story then you would have had a pretty strong couple, that would then be copped out by his fiancee.
Jack Lander's time trotting ex-wife also brings up a point about sharing. If the Fear Cats were the villains from the get go and ended up and Flurious's ice palace with Vella that whole scene in the finale would have made more sense--though the ending of Moltar was awesome.
Another example would be how Will's rivalry with the Ninjas didn't really ad up to much sense if you remember how Kamdor and Mira were Dax's enemies.
5.Dax sho brushed the dirt off his shouldas with being so cold to Miratrix's being snuffed out like that.
Most of these issues I expect to be resolved in Jungle Fury, because beside the above I thought Overdrive was like great tasting bucket of hot popcorn, but without the butter.
