Don't buy countdown buy these comics from DC instead
Okay so for people who don't know, Countdown is a weekly comic book crossover event happening right now that to say the least isn't that good. The comic are rather banal and to be quite frank none of the plot lines are well written. Heck even the art isn't up to snuff and believe me when I say avoid at all costs your money is better spent on trades, older comics, or most anything else. According to the man heading the project you have to wait till the very end and have all the piece for it to be enjoyable so unless it has one of comics greatest endings I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. Now if you decide to not get countdown because of how horrid it actually is if I were you I would spend my money on these DC books.
Blue Beetle- The only other Spider-man pastiche besides Invincible that actually works, this is a very fun comic that has some of the most enduring characters happening in comics right now. Event hough some people might be turned off by it's slight cartoony art, it's story is really fun and quite good, if I were you I would spend money on the first two trades and the third one witch will come out soon. Plus for toku fans is that main character is a henshin hero in a way.
The All-new Atom- Another offering by DC that will be a good buy is the All new Atom by Gail Simone like the Blue Beetle a legacy character but this one id just fun. In many ways a modern silver age book this book appeals to the little scientist in all of us. THis one if fun not only in a silver age way but in also a Buffy the Vampire slayer sort of way of having the town be the actual villain plus with it's solid mysteries and very good art make this a must buy for most comic fans of DC.
Green Lantern- With the Sinestro Corps crossover it's a good thing to be a Green Lantern fan again, this solid storyline filled to brink with awesome villains and some pretty damn good storytelling with the writing and art. This a comic that feels epic and really this comic makes Hal Jordan an actual badass again so please check this one out because besides Annihilation one of the best space epics of comic books, Also be sure to Check out the companion book Green Lantern Corps for more good storytelling.
Classics you have to check out.
Young Justice- One of the best teen superheo book bar none, Although cancelled before it's time it lasted 55 issues plus some specials here and there, the book was also quite funny. THis book featured teen superheroes who were actually more relatable because they were quite funny and were having fun. Now if humor wasn't your cup of tea this book could also be very dramatic when it wanted it to because it just come so naturally out of nowhere that you can't help but love these characters even more when it happens. It was one of the few classic teen books that holds ups because of not only of the stories but subject matter as well, this is a good book and there one trade of it available please find the back issues and trade and write into to DC to put this series out again because it is such a good book.
Starman-I can't sum how good this series is, just buy if you can and thank me later.
Doom Patrol-THe Grant Morrison years, this is such a weird book and it may be polarizing to some of you out there, but if you stick with you will be treated to one of the best ending in comics, and also you IQ may be raised a point or two, all six trades will be available soon so check it out.
Well six book that you can spend your money published by DC that have nothing to do with countdown besides some references that you don't really need to get to read countdown, check these books and have a swell time.
